When you finish you will be able to
Write a program that calculates, simulates or analyzes the data of an engineering problem.
What you learn
- Write and trace by hand a Python program with variables, if, for and functions, with names that state the unit.
- Convert between binary and decimal, and compare decimals with a tolerance instead of ==.
- Test a function with assert: a hand-worked case, an edge case and a property.
- Simulate a system step by step and analyze a list of data with total, mean, maximum and median.
- Deliver a program that someone else runs and gets the same result: data, tests, units and Python version.
Who it is for
Young people aged 16 to 24 who are starting out in engineering or a technical trade. No programming experience needed. Examples from electrical work; to practice, a computer with Python 3 helps, and without one the examples can be traced by hand.
