When you finish you will be able to
Stop an unsafe job and explain in writing why.
What you learn
- Identify, in a work situation, which rule of a code of ethics or of workplace law (in this course, Chile's) applies and whom it protects.
- Stop an unsafe job without putting yourself at risk or touching anything, and alert the person responsible with a concrete reason stated in one sentence.
- Write a stop note with its six parts: when and where, what you saw, what you compare it with and the calculation, the risk and to whom, what you did, and what's needed to carry on.
- Sign a document stating what you checked and what you didn't, after checking the work done under your supervision.
- Analyse a failure case with public consequences using four questions: what happened, what the documents said, who could have stopped it and with what data, and what you would have written.
Who it is for
Young people aged 16 to 24 studying engineering or a technical trade who are starting internships or work. Requires the course “Reading in depth and writing”. Examples from electrical work; students don't touch the mains: the electrical cases are made-up data.
