When you finish you will be able to
Write down the assumptions of a model and say when it stops holding.
What you learn
- Frame a problem as a question with a number and a decision, with its data, its model and a drawing of the whole path.
- Write the assumptions of a model as sentences that can be false, each with the condition under which it stops holding.
- Identify which assumption is decisive, by recalculating the result when that assumption changes.
- Compare a model's prediction with the interval of a measurement and say whether they are consistent.
- Write an analysis report with question, assumptions, result, comparison and limits.
Who it is for
Young people aged 16 to 24 who are studying engineering or a technical trade, can already solve problems with physics formulas and can do calculations in a program or a spreadsheet. Electrical examples with cells and batteries; anything the student measures is measured only on single cells such as an AA battery.
