When you finish you will be able to
Find the standard that applies to a job and check that it is met.
What you learn
- Tell a standard, a regulation and a technical specification apart, and say who makes each one binding and within what scope.
- Check in the official source which regulation and which version of a specification are in force, and whether they are required of an installation given its declaration date (when it was notified to the authority to be put into service) and its building permit.
- Find the specifications that apply to a job by reading their scope and following their cross-references.
- Review an installation point by point, with a table of requirement, point, expected, observed and complies.
- Decide whether a measurement meets a minimum or a maximum in the standard, taking into account the instrument's uncertainty and the test conditions.
Who it is for
Young people aged 16 to 24 who study engineering or a technical trade. Requires the classes “Choosing and studying a specialization” and “Measuring and recording”. Examples from electrical work, with Chile's regulations.
