Explain a technical decision to a client without jargon and to a colleague in full detail.
What you learn
- Identify, before writing, who receives a decision, what they know, what they need to know and what they will do with it.
- Write a calculation report for a colleague with the result, the data and where each item comes from, the assumptions, the method, the calculation, the criterion and what was not verified.
- Write a message for a client that opens with the decision and gives the reason, the cost, the condition and what you need, without jargon and without deleting conditions.
- Build a short presentation in which every slide has a complete assertion as its title and the evidence below it.
- Check with each recipient what they would decide, what the recommendation depends on and what was not understood, and keep the decision in writing.
