- In a case, separate facts from assumptions and from what is unknown, and strike out the alternatives that fail a constraint.
- Compare alternatives with a weighted matrix and with expected cost, and calculate the threshold at which the decision changes.
- Choose which piece of data to look for first, the one that can cross its threshold and costs least to find out, and calculate the most that finding it out is worth.
- Write a decision sheet with its assumptions, what would change it and its review date, and review it with another person.
